Since the early 1990s, SED (logo) has been devoted to excellence in audio vacuum tubes. All of the types listed here perform as good or better than their NOS predecessors from which they were designed. Without a doubt, the SED (logo) line of audio tubes is the best sounding and most durable audio tube currently available today.

The SED - SV6L6GC is, without a doubt, the one of the best sounding 6L6 type available today. The control grids are gold plated and the tube sounds every bit as rich and detailed as the original RCA 6L6GC blackplate from the 1960s. This tube works well in Golden Tube Audio amps, vintage hi-fi gear such as McIntosh MC30 SV6L6GCs are available in singles, matched pairs and quads. This tube is now standard equipment in Mesa-Boogie and many other 6L6 guitar amplifiers. A recent published Power Tube Taste Test  in Guitar Player Magazine rated the SED SV6L6GC as the best-sounding new 6L6GC!

The SED - SV6550C is a significant improvement over the original GE 6550A. Improvements have been made in its design that perfectly aligns grids to reduce plate heating. This tube is powerful sounding with great bass slam, musical mids and detailed, but not harsh highs. It is built like a tank and will be a very long-lasting component. More high-end manufacturers use SED 6550C in their equipment including Audio Research, Conrad Johnson and McIntosh amoung many others.

The SED - SVEL34 is almost an exact copy of the classic Mullard EL34 Type III and is the perfect tube for any EL34 hi-fi amplifier - new or vintage, Marshall guitar amps and other EL34 applications. In fact, Marshall now installs the SVEL34 in all of their guitar amplifiers. The sound is rich, musical and detailed. A recent published Power Tube Taste Test  in Guitar Player Magazine rated the SED SVEL34 as the best-sounding new EL34!

SED SV KT88 -  Handles the highest voltage 650+. Very reliable with modern high voltage power amps like: Audio Research, Conrad Johnson, Rogue Audio, etc. Get these and be happy!!! The ones we have in stock are the 2004 date codes and are the best rated ones.

The 6N1P is a medium-mu dual triode that has the same pinout as the 6DJ8, 6922, or 7308.  This tube has a big, musical sound with better dynamics than most 6922s.  Its cathode is huge and offers a lot of drive.  It performs extremely well as a driver or audio stage in power amps, lines stages and in some preamps. It differs in that it's filament current is 600mA compared to 365mA for the 6922, etc.  You cannot use it in Audible Illusions, Balanced Audio Technology or Sonic Frontiers preamps due to the limitations in their power supplies. 

The EL84N (SV83) is similar to EL84 types, but the maximum screen grid voltage is 200 volts. It can be used in vintage hi-fi amps that are not ultralinear designs such as Fisher, Scott and EICO integrated or basic EL84 designs. It must not be used in any vintage Heathkit, Dynaco or Acrosound amplifiers due to higher screen grid voltages. You can also use the SV83 in custom designed equipment. It is very musical and has a plate dissipation rating of 12 watts.

Svetlana(TM) Power Tubes (Owned by New Sensor)

Since 2003, New Sensor of New York owns the Svetlana trademark. These tubes are a step above the New Sensor line as they are close replicas of the original Svetlana (St Petersburg) types. Mullard Tubes

Another first from Mike Matthews, he has reissued the famed Mullard EL34! These tubes have been carefully blueprinted from the original Blackburn, UK XF-2 type tubes and are superior performers at very reasonable prices. Gold plated screen grids, high vacuum and tight tolerances make these tubes incredible performers.

Tung Sol (New Production by New Sensor)

Mike Mathews now owns the Tung-Sol name and is making tubes to match the legenday 1950s Tung-Sol tubes of the past. New Sensor has dissected new old stock Tung Sol tubes to determine the cathode formulas, mettalurgy and design to make the best replicas available today. We are currently have three of the initial offerings.

Tung Sol 12AX7, the famous, low noise, sweet-sounding tube originally offered in quality tube hi-fi from the 1950s, as well as the famous Fender Tweed amps. These 12AX7s have very high gain, perfect for tube preamps, guitar amps and line stages. Not recommended for sensitive phono stages.

The Tung Sol 6V6GT is a warm, sweet, but punchy 6V6GT that can handle high voltages, and put out maximum music. Recommended for all guitar amps that use the 6V6. Noticeably more power with warm dynamics. Great for your Tweed, Blackface, Silverface or Boutique guitar amp!!!

Now for real fun, the Tung-Sol 5881 is an exact replica of the real thing. It is a beautiful thing to behold. The sound is fantastic and just like the original. This is currently my favorite new 5881/6L6 type on the market.

Tung Sol was most famous for the legendary "coke-bottle" Tung Sol 6550. Mike Mathews and JC Morrison worked hard to duplicate the subtle design and mettalurgy of the famous and best-sounding 6550. This tube is making history as we speak. It is considered by many to be the best sounding 6550 on the market. Exceptional for most tube amps that use the 6550 or KT88. Great in McIntosh, Grommes, HH Scott, Leslie Speaker Amps, Sunn and Ampeg amps. Handles high voltage well.

The new Tung Sol 6550 is the BEST SOUNDING 6550 on the market today!!!! Several of my tech buddies totally agree.

JJ 6L6GC

The new JJ 6L6GCs are as good or better than the GE 6L6GC grey plates in Fender amps they are awesome.   These are as close to an NOS sound as you will get. Work perfect in all Fender and boutique amps that call for 6L6GC. Warm, sparkly great tone. Also dynamite for 6L6GC hi-fi amps.

JJ KT88

The new and improved JJ KT88 is the best-sounding current production KT88 according to a recent VTV listening session. We compared them all and the JJ was almost as good as the original MO Valve KT88. Very stable bias, handles high voltage well and sound fabulous! Also works in most 6550 applications.

JJE88CC/6922

The new JJ 6922 is the best new 6922 and will sound great in Audio Research, Conrad Johnson, Sonic Frontiers, etc. Warmer and sweeter than the Sovtek 6922. All tested for low microphonics and low noise.

JJ ECC83S

JJ 12AX7S is considered to be one of the best for guitar and hifi applications. They simply sound better in most guitar amps than the other new 12AX7s. Most players prefer them for their warm sparkly sound. We also now have a cache of NOS JJ 12AX7 non-spiral filament for line stage and driver function at super low prices!!!

The new JJ 7247/ECC832 for Ampeg, Fisher and misc amps. One triode is a 12AX7 type and the other triode is a 12AU7. Perfect for gain stages, driver and inverter stages on new designs as well. The JJ 7247 is much better and longer lasting than the Ei 7247

Many have claimed that this tube is one of the best sounding 6L6 types currently available.These tubes are absolutely beautiful and one of the classiest bottles on the market. The GT KT66 can be used in any application where 6L6 types can be used. Maximum plate voltage should be limited to 450 volts. The GTKT66 carries a 90 day warranty.

EXTRA!!!We now carry the econmically priced, reliable, and good-sounding Golden Dragon VT-4/211, 811A and 845 transmitting tubes for audio use! These are available in precision matched pairs. No need to spends hundreds on NOS transmitter tubes, these are excellent and reliable. Plus they are precision matched for plate current and gain on specially designed testers.

Also listed is the Shuguang KT66 beam output tubes.  These are some of the most beautiful looking and best sounding of the 6L6 types available today.  They look and sound identical to the original Genalex Gold Lion KT66!  The filament current is 1.4amps compared to .9 amps, so use with care in your amp. Shuguang GZ34 is a great replacement tube.
